These easy 5 ingredient Flourless Chocolate Lava Cakes are the perfect dessert for any month and season of the year. They are ready to serve in under 30 minutes and are best served warm right out of the oven with cold ice cream of your choice! I decided to serve them with a simple strawberry banana ice cream. You can find the recipe for the ice cream here below as well.
Instead of granulated sugar or confectioners’ sugar like a classic chocolate lava cake has, I use coconut sugar that I blend together with cornstarch to give me the consistency of powdered coconut sugar.
What If I Don’t Have Coconut Sugar?
If you don’t have coconut sugar or simply just want to save time by not making your own powdered coconut sugar. That’s perfectly ok! You can use ½ cup regular confectioners sugar or granulated sugar.
If You Want To Add In Flour:
Add in 1 tbsp of the flour of your choice whether it’s regular flour, almond flour, coconut flour etc.
Banana Ice Cream Flavor Tip:
Instead of the frozen strawberries add in 1-2 tbsp of natural peanut butter for a chocolate lava cake peanut butter banana ice cream combo.
Serving Suggestion:
You can also serve these chocolate lava cakes with fresh berries and whipped cream instead of ice cream.

Ingredients
Flourless Chocolate Lava Cakes
115 gr / ½ cup unsalted butter
150 gr / 5 oz semi sweet or 70% chocolate
4 large eggs
115 gr / ½ cup coconut sugar
2 tsp cornstarch
Strawberry Banana Ice Cream
2 frozen bananas
100 gr / 1 cup frozen strawberries
Instructions
For the Flourless Chocolate Lava Cakes
Preheat oven to 200C / 400F
Blend the coconut sugar and cornstarch on high speed in a high-powered blender for 60 seconds until your mixture has the consistency of powdered sugar.
Spray 4 ramekins with cooking spray. Or brush with melted butter.
Optional: Dust the ramekins with cocoa powder.
Melt together butter and chocolate in a heat proof bowl over boiling water or in the microwave. Put aside.
Whisk the eggs together in a medium sized bowl.
Add the powdered coconut sugar to the eggs. Whisk until combined.
Stir the egg mixture into the chocolate mixture and carefully whisk until combined and lump free.
Divide the batter between the ramekins and bake for 12-14 minutes or until the sides are firm.
Take the cakes out of the oven and let them slightly cool down.
Turn the cakes onto individual plates and top with banana ice cream.
Serve right away.
For the Strawberry Banana Ice Cream
Add the frozen bananas and strawberries into a food processor bowl.
Process until the bananas break down and have a smooth and creamy ice cream consistency.
Serve right away with the Flourless Chocolate Lava Cakes.
