What Is TikTok’s Baked Feta Pasta?
The viral TikTok pasta is a flavorful pasta dish that is incredibly easy to make. It’s made by roasting cherry tomatoes and a block of feta cheese in olive oil and seasoning. It’s roasted until the tomatoes burst and the feta cheese starts to melt. You then gently mash the tomatoes and stir everything together until it forms a creamy sauce. In the end you add in cooked pasta and chopped fresh basil.
In my version of this popular dish I use 1 red onion halved and quartered that is roasted with the tomatoes, garlic and feta cheese. My main reason to doing that was to make the dish a little bit sweeter. I tried it without the onion first and found it to be a little too acidic. Adding ½-1 onion gives it that extra sweetness to balance out the tomatoes. If you don’t want to use an onion you can add 1 teaspoon or so of granulated to the sauce after after the tomatoes and feta have finished baking.

Cherry Tomatoes – This recipe calls for cherry tomatoes, but you can substitute those with grape tomatoes.
Red Onion – Instead of red onion in this recipe you can use shallots, yellow onion, white onion or 1 teaspoon sugar.
Feta Cheese – Instead of a block of feta cheese you can use ricotta cheese or burrata.
Pasta – I used penne pasta but ANY type of dried or fresh pasta works in this recipe so feel free to use whatever you have.
Fresh Basil – If you don’t have or like basil you can use baby spinach instead.
Serve With Parmesan – This pasta is also delicious served with grated fresh Parmesan cheese.
Pasta Water – When draining the pasta, save ¼ cup of the pasta water in case you need help binding the sauce together.
Roasting – A key in this recipe is roasting until the cherry tomatoes have burst. A big part of the sauce comes from the cherry tomato juice.
Variations
There’s so many ways you can change up this easy pasta dish. You can for example use different:
Vegetables – You can add in other types of vegetables such as: Mushrooms, bell peppers, artichokes, broccoli, asparagus and more.
Seasoning – I only use salt and pepper for seasoning but if you like it spicier you can add in red pepper flakes, chili powder or oregano. You can also use different types of fresh herbs instead of the fresh basil.
