Ingredients

Caramel Apples:
30 gr / 2 tbsp salted butter
50 gr / ¼ cup dark brown sugar
340 gr / 12 oz apples peeled and diced

Apple Skillet Cake:
115 gr / ½ cup salted butter
150 gr / ¾ cup granulated sugar
150 gr / ¾ cup dark brown sugar
3 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
60 ml / ¼ cup whole milk
195 gr / 1 ½ cup all purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
½ tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 175C / 350 F.

For The Caramel Apples:

Melt the butter in a 10 inch oven safe skillet over medium high heat. Stir in the dark brown sugar and diced apples until sugar has melted and apples start to soften and caramelize. About 4-5 minutes.

Take off the heat and let cool down to room temperature.

For The Apple Skillet Cake:

In a stand mixer beat the butter until creamy. Add in granulated sugar and dark brown sugar. Mix until light and fluffy.

Add eggs one by one, beating in between.

Then beat in the vanilla extract and milk.

Mix together flour, baking powder and cinnamon in a medium sized bowl.

Slowly mix in the flour mixture to the wet ingrediments until just combined.

With a spatula gently fold in the caramelized apple mixture. (Make sure the mixture is not too hot still)

Pour the batter back into the 10 inch oven safe skillet.

Bake for 35 minutes. Or until top is golden and a toothpick comes out clean.

Take out of the oven and let cool down for 3-5 minutes before serving.

Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
