How To Make This 5 Minute Double Chocolate Mug Cake?

I always start by gathering all of the ingredients needed in a recipe and weighing and measuring everything before I start to cook or bake. This part is really important and key in keeping everything organized.

  1. To make this easy mug cake you start by placing butter and chocolate chips in a mug and microwave until melted.
  2. Then you stir in the honey, egg, cocoa powder and vanilla extract.
  3. Stir in the flour and baking powder until just combined.
  4. Drop the milk chocolate chunks into the center of the cake.
  5. Microwave on full power for 2 minutes.
  6. Serve with ice cream/whipped cream and enjoy!

I like to serve this quick and easy chocolate cake with either vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Both are equally as delicious!

Notes & Substitutions

Butter – Instead of butter in this recipe you can use any type of oil such as olive oil, vegetable oil or coconut oil.

Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips – Semi sweet chocolate chips can be replaced for any other type of chocolate chips.

Honey – The honey in the recipe can be replaced by maple syrup or granulated sugar/caster sugar.

All Purpose Flour – Flour can be reduced or replaced by for example almond flour or coconut flour.

Milk Chocolate Chunks – Instead of milk chocolate chunks you can use any type of chocolate chunks or chocolate chips.

Ingredients

Scale

2 tablespoons butter         
2 tablespoons semi sweet chocolate chips 
2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
1 large egg
1 tablespoon cocoa powder
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons all purpose flour
¼ teaspoon baking powder
28 gr / 1 oz milk chocolate chunks

Instructions

Place butter and chocolate chips in a medium/large mug and microwave until melted, about 60-90 seconds.

Stir in honey, egg, cocoa powder and vanilla extract.

Stir in flour and baking powder until just combined.

Drop milk chocolate chunks into the center of the cake. No need to press them down, they will sink on their own.

Microwave on full power for 2 minutes.

Serve with ice cream/whipped cream and enjoy!
